Airport Overview
The New Yogyakarta International airport is located in Temon Sub District of Kulon Progo District, about 43 km from the Yogyakarta city. The airport is planned to replace Adisutjipto International Airport as the air gateway to Yogyakarta Province, which is overcapacity. For the time being, the airport only serves domestic flight and is expected to be fully operational for International flights starting April 2020. The airport is expected to accommodate 20 million passengers annually. Currently the airport operates from 06.00 WIB – 18.00 WIB (23.00 UTC – 11.00 UTC).

Passenger and Cargo Performance Indicator
The airport is expected to accommodate 20 million passengers annually, upon completion.
The airport is currently under ongoing development. The development is divided into two phases:
- Phase 1: the airport will have a terminal area of 130,000 m2 with a capacity of up to 15 million passengers per year, with runway length 3,250 meters x 60 meters. The total land area of the airport is about 645 hectares
- Phase 2: the extension of the airport terminal with total area of 195,000 m2 that can accommodate up to 20 million passengers per year. The length of the runway will be extended by 350 meters to 3,600 meters and 45 meters wide with apron capacity that can park up to 45 aircrafts.
Future plans also include to turn the airport land into an airport city integrated with industrial and tourism areas. The airport is designed to be resistant to earthquakes measuring up to 8.8 on the Richter magnitude scale as it was constructed in an earthquake-prone area and will be equipped with tsunami mitigation facilities.

Airport Infrastructure Details
For the time being, about 12,900 m2 terminal building is completed and in operational.
The airport is planned to be connected to Yogyakarta city centre via a toll road and railway line. Railway line (airport railway) will be built starting 2020 and expected to be operational in 2021.
