This airport has a new terminal building and is designed specifically for passenger movements as part of the tourism industry operating in the region. It’s proximity to the magnificent Victoria falls makes it the preferred destination airport for most tourists visiting Zambia. It has a single runway in good condition and is in close proximity to Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Passenger and Cargo Performance Indicator
The airport is mainly used for tourism purposes with limited cargo handling capacity. The current passenger handling capacity for Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula is about 700,000 pax at most per annum. However, at the moment only about 30% of this capacity is utilized due to Covid-19 pandemic. There has been a drastic reduction in the tourist arrivals as a result of the pandemic.
